Full-grain and top-grain leather last longer when they stay dry and are conditioned a few times a year. Suede and nubuck need a brush, not oil.
Jackets, belts, and bags
- Hang jackets on a wide hanger. Do not leave them in direct sun or in a closed car.
- Wipe rain off with a soft cloth and let the piece dry at room temperature. Keep it away from heaters.
- Use a leather conditioner on smooth leather when it looks dry. Test a hidden spot first.
- Stuff purses and boots with paper if you store them, so the shape holds.
Wallets
Do not soak a wallet. Wipe the surface and let oils from normal handling darken the leather evenly. That patina is expected on full-grain leather.
The product page names the leather type. Follow that label if it differs from this guide.
